So here's chapter one of my fic. Hope you all like it.
Chapter 1:
Leo ran through the dark allies as fast as he could. The Foot was gaining on him. He didn’t know how, but the Shredder was back. He had to ditch the gang of ninjas and get home. His brothers needed the antidote. If he didn’t get back in time, he’d never be able to forgive himself. He slid around the corner, jumping over a dumpster, landing lightly on his feet and running on. A dark shadow jumped into his path and stood glaring at him. Leo skidded to a stop, his breathing coming a litter harder. A light rain beat down on him and lightning crackled overhead. Strong arms circled around him, gripping him and squeezing so hard it became harder and harder to breathe. He struggled to break free, only getting a glance at his attacker.
It was a second Shredder. A complete duplicate of the one who stood in front of him.
Leo gasped and struggled even more. It couldn’t be real. Not two of them. It was unlikely. It was a trick.
“Quit struggling,” the first Shredder ordered.
“It will all be over soon.” A third figure came up from the left. He also looked like Shredder. Just like the first and second.
A fourth duplicate came up on the right, chuckling at him darkly.
His vision started to darken and his struggles became less and less. It can’t end like this. I must help my family.
The Shredder in front of him reached up and took off his helmet. He smiled darkly at Leo, saying nothing at all.
Leo stopped struggling all together. “No...”
Splinter stared back at him. “Good bye my son.” He lifted his hand and swung the two razor blades attached to the back of his fist downward faster than he could blink.
“No!” Leo screamed bolting up in bed. He shivered, covered in a cold sweat, breathing in gasps as he looked around his dark room. It was all a dream. Nothing more. But it had all seemed so real. So convincing. He finally looked over at the clock. 3:41 am. He hoped he didn’t wake anybody else up.
The door burst open. He cringed. Too late.
Raph ran to his bedside. “What happened? Are you alright?” He looked at him and around the room.
The rest of his brothers and his master entered before he could answer, each of them wearing concerned looks.
“I’m fine,” he said finally finding his voice. There was no way he was going to tell them about the dream. It was weird enough as it was. He took a deep breath, getting control of his breathing.
“Are you sure?” Raph asked.
“’Cause you never scream in the night,” Mikey spoke up, rubbing the back of his neck.
“It was nothing,” Leo murmured. Now he really didn’t want to talk about it.
Raph raised an eyeridge, watching him, but remaining silent.
“You can tell us Leo,” Don stated.
“Yeah. We’re family.” Mikey put his arm around Don.
“No.” Leo looked down at his bed.
“Come on guys. It’s obvious he doesn’t want to talk.” Raph stomped out of the room, pushing the door out of his way and letting it slam against the wall.
Leo watched him disappear through the doorway. He hated making Raph mad like that, but what could he do? Talk? No, not now. That was out of the question.
Don sighed and pulled Mikey out of the room.
“But… but…” Mikey asked.
Don shook his head and pulled Mikey the rest of the way out of the room.
Splinter’s hand rested on his shoulder.
He sighed and looked over at him. Splinter seemed to know more than Leo thought. He could see it in his eyes.
“Don’t hesitate to talk to me if you need to.”
Leo nodded. Maybe he would. But not now.
Splinter left the room, quietly closing the door behind him.
Leo stared at the door. There was no way he was going back to sleep. He was too wide awake already. That and the dream had gotten to him so much he was starting to worry he’d have it again, and he didn’t look forward to seeing it again so soon. He sighed and got out of bed. He would have to deal with his brothers’ prodding, but that could wait a few hours. Everybody else probably wasn’t going to bed anytime soon either. And he didn’t want to be here for them to ask. He opened his door turning to the exit. With luck he hoped he could get out of the lair without any questions.
“Where are you going?” Raph asked.
He cringed. So much for that idea. “Topside,” Leo slipped out and ran down the sewer tunnels before anything else could be said.
