Sry I'm late in getting my ff up! Here it is!
Tragic Times
Chapter 1
Yuri was lying on her bed munching on a box of Honey Weatables. It’s so unfair! Why did she have to stay in her room like a little girl while her dad and Gazu were holding a meeting? “They’re four stories below me for crying out loud!” She complained. “You can’t be around, Yuri.” She imitated her brother. “You’ll disrupt the meeting!” She threw the empty box on the ground and walked out onto her balcony. The wind in her hair and the birds chirping as they flew by somehow had a calming effect on her. She made a rock fly up into her hands and tossed it up and down. As she was doing this, an idea struck her. A small smirk crept across her face. She ran back into her room. “Gazu said I can’t be around…” She muttered slipping oh her shoes. “No one said I had to stay in my room. Heheh, loophole here I come!” She glanced at her bed. ’If some one came and saw I’m gone, I’m so in for it!’ She grabbed a bunch of stuffed animals and shoved it under the covers. “And now for the ‘piece da resistance’…” Yuri grabbed an old styling head and strapped on an eye mast. Then she laid it on her pillow and used the blankets to cover the neck. She stepped back to look at her disguise. She smiled with satisfaction. “Perfect! No one will suspect a thing!”
Just them she heard a knock on her closed door. House keeping.” ‘Oh no! Mayla! Not now!’ Her head was buzzing. ’If she came in and saw me and the decoy, she would totally rat me out!’ Mayla was nice but sort of a tattle-tale. Yuri had to hide; and fast! She ran out onto the balcony and stood next to the door, hidden by the wall. She held her breath as she heard the door knob click. The door swung open. No foot steps? Mayla always wore heels. Had she figured out it was a fake without even stepping into the room? She let out a small sight of relief when she heard the clank of shoes against the floor. A gentle breeze blew against the French doors, making it squeak open. ‘No, no, the door!! I didn’t shut it all the way!!’ Her mind started to panic. She heard food steps coming closer.
Mayla stepped out onto the balcony and looked around. Nothing. She went back in and closed the doors. Yuri peaked over the side of the balcony. She surfed thought the air on a rectangular rock. She was home free!!
It's kinda short i know. the other chapters will be longer. Hope you liked it!

sry it took me a while to get this chapter up!
Chapter 2
"FREEDOM!!" Yuri yelled throwing her arms in the air once she was far enough away from her house. Her dad was a kind, gentle man but he was very restrictive. She was barely allowed to leave the house much less their garden. By now she was 1/2 a mile away. Five minutes of flight passed quickly. She landed just on the outskirts of town. Something about this place just seemed to draw her there. The only time she came into town was to run errands with Mayla or Vacamai, another maid of the family. She ran into a coffee shop just down the street. The smell of coffee quickly filled up her lungs. Some people sat at couches reading and sipping their drinks. Others sat at tables chatting with a friend or too; occasionally taking a drink as well. Two men caught her eye as she approached the counter. They both wore coal back trench coats and hats to match. The only difference was only one wore gloves. Bother of them seemed deep in conversation. Their heads were down covering their eyes with their hats. Whatever they were taking about was their business. But still, there was something very eerie about them; and she couldn't help wondering what they were talking about. She looked up at the cashier. She wasn’t that much older than Yuri. 16 or 17 years old maybe. Her bleached blond hair with streaks of blue and purple here and there was up in high pigtails. She wore a blue tank top overlain with three different necklaces, with a name tag clipped just to the right. It said, ‘Hi! My name is Erica!’ The smiley face sticker next to the ‘Hi’ did little the describe Erica. Her expression was more of a ‘whatever’ or an ‘I really hate my job’ or ‘I really wish I wasn’t here right now’ face. "One chocolate latte with whip cream, please." Yuri smiled. The Erica said nothing and pushed some buttons on the register. The thought of those two cloaked men crept up in her mind again. 'Kinda weird tor them to dress like that when it's 81 degrees outside! Obviously they don’t want to be recognized.’ She tried to ease drop a bit. Their whispering and the background nose made it hard to hear. “…we… the device… IDS….” That was all she could make out of what the first guy said, but she understood perfectly. The IDS. A term she heard too many times. It stood for Inter-Dimensional Service aka, her dad’s delivery business.’What do they want with dad’s business? What am I saying? Everyone knows about dad’s business? But still…’ She continued to listen.
“…refuse…everyone… price…”
That made absolutely no sense. Refuse what? What device? And do they want with IDS…
“HEY!!!”
Yuri was suddenly snapped out of her daze. “Huh?”
“You planning on paying for that?” She snapped. “I said that’ll be $2.85.”
Yuri clenched her teeth together. Rude sarcasm always got on her nerves. She quickly shook it off. “Right, sorry.”
Erica just rolled her eyes. Yuri handed her three dollars. “13 cents’ your change.”
Yuri took it and walled over the pick up counter. “Thanks.” She muttered under her breath.
She watched one of the workers prepare her drink. A shiver suddenly went up her spine. It was like she was being… watched. Those guys! It had to be them! Who else could it be? She glanced at them out of the corner of her eye. It was. She looked away at her drink that was sitting on the counter. The man was already at the drive thru. She took it and slowly walked towards the door; listening to every word carefully.
“Is it her?” The gloved man asked.
“Yes. I’m surprised her father left her out alone. She maybe a useful pawn in our plan.” The other one replied. She gasped. ‘Their talking about me!’ “Let’s go.” Both stood up and started walking towards her.
‘Time to leave!!’ She thought quickening her pace.
Focused on the door, she wasn’t prepared to collide with the exact person she was trying to get away from. She slowly looked up at the man she just spilled her latté all over. “Uh, s-sorry about that sir.” Yuri apologized. “Oh that is quite alright.” He replied whipping off his trench coat with napkins. He turned to face her. Immediately she noticed a nasty scar from just above his eyebrow to below his right eye. She cringed.
“My name is Hajin.” He told her. “Yora is it? Shiven’s daughter?”
“Actually it’s Yuri, but close.” She tried to smile. “How did you know Shiven’s my father?”
Hajin chuckled. “Please, Yuri. Your father is the most powerful man in the trade industry. Not to mention the richest.” He seemed to elongate that last comment. “You’re sort of famous being his daughter.”
“Really?” Yuri questioned in disbelief.
“Oh yes, really. In fact,” He added. “I’m going to be doing business with him very soon.”
The other man finally came over. “Hajin, we must be going.”
“Yes, yes. I believe so. By the way, Tang, this is Yuri. Yuri, Tang.”
Tang nodded. “Pleased to meet you.”
“Well Yuri,” Hajin started. “In time I hope our paths cross again.”
His smile started to creep her out. “Oh, uh, yeah. Same here. I should probably get going too.” Yuri bowed. “Nice to meet you two.”
‘Or not.’ She shivered mentally.
Hajin opened the door for her. “The pleasure is all mine.”
Eagerly she walked out. Hajin and Tang exited after.
She jogged over to where she left her earth board, soon soaring away.
Hajin watched her fly away. “Indeed, a great, great pleasure.” He chuckled with a smirk.

Chapter 3
Yuri sat quietly in the hedges surrounding her house. She peered into the slightly cracked window. What was so important about that meeting that couldn't come within 30ft of? She just had to know!
"Don't you know who's after you, Shiven?" A man sitting three seats to the right of her dad demanded.
"I am aware of my situation and am quite capable of handling it, Wanai!" Her father snapped. His deep brown eyes stared sternly at the blue skinned man.
"Sir," said a young man sitting next to her brother Gazu. "If I may, he is a very persistent man. I not given what he needs, he will sink to..." His voice lowered. "...unfathomable actions."
Gazu looked to his father with great concern. "And that doesn't even begin to describe what he would do!" The 17 year old boy waited for a reply.
Yuri stared at her father who was staring at the center of the table. She could tell that even he was becoming concerned. She started to get worried. She'd never seen her dad like that.
He finally spoke. “We can’t give him that weapon, but we can’t refuse either. I’m sure you all remember last time.” He frowned grimly. The room became silent.
Gazu shifted his gaze over to the window. To his surprise he saw Yuri sitting in the bushes. She scotched back a bit, realizing her cover was blown. He gave her his, ‘What do you think you’re doing?’ glare. A look he knew she hated. She put her finger in front of her lips, begging him not to tell. He shook his head and flicked his head to the left a few times to get her to leave.
She nodded quickly, quietly crawling backwards.
He sighed silently and looked around the still group.
Ren, a girl about Gazu’s age, ended the silence. “Our solution maybe easier than we anticipate.”
Everyone looked at her curiously.
“Compromise. Talk with him about a non-violet way to fill his needs.”
“Huh, that’s actually not a bad idea.” Wanai complimented.
“Even if he agreed to meeting,” Shiven started. “What makes you so sure he’ll agree to a compromise too?”
“Oh he will if he wants the shipment.” Ren smirked.
“We shall see.” Shiven stated. “Meeting adjourned.”
***
Gazu impatiently rode the elevator up to the fifth floor.
‘How could Yuri do something so reckless? She could’ve gotten caught and ruined the entire meeting! Or worse, she could’ve found out about dad’s pursuer.’ He sighed. ‘She can’t find out. I don’t want to worry her’.
The door finally opened. He made his way down the hall to Yuri’s room and knocked. A faint voice murmured a ‘come in’. Gazu entered quicker than he tried to. There she was sitting on her bed motionless. She stared towards the end of her bed, almost, upset. They were both quiet for what seemed forever.
“What were you thinking?” He spoke half calm, half angry.
She shrugged, not daring to look up.
“You’re recklessness could’ve ruined the meeting.” He sighed. “You snuck into town again didn’t you?” His tone softened.
“Uh, kinda.” She said innocently.
Gazu sighed again. “Sooner or later dad’s gonna find out or I tell him.”
“You told him?!” Yuri demanded jumping to her feet.
“No, but I should.” He threatened.
She sat back down. “Gazu please, don’t tell him.”
“I won’t have to if you stop doing this.” He paused and looked down. “Why is it that you do this anyway? “Because there I have friends I can be myself around; while here I have no friends, just dad’s hired help.” Tear after tear started streaming down her face. “All I am here, is the girl who just gets thrown in her room when it’s a possibility that I could get in the way!”
Gazu came and sat down next to her. He wrapped his arm around her tightly gently rubbing her arm.
She rested her head on his chest. “He doesn’t care!” Her voice cracked. “I mean, I know her says he loves me but how could he actually mean it if all I get are restrictions?”
“I know you feel unloved,” He said. “but dad really does love you; a lot. The reason he’s so protective of you is because he doesn’t want to lose you like he did mom.”
“What happened to her? Every time I asked, all I got was a she passed away.”
“One man’s business partner was unhappy with dad and took his revenge.”
Yuri was speechless. He knew he wasn’t supposed to tell her but it was only fair that she knew. “I want you to know that he loves you more than you can imagine. And I do too.”
She sniffed whipping the tears from her eyes. Hugging him back tightly, she said, “I love you too… and… I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be.”
“But I…”
“It’s ok.” He cut her off. “You didn’t know. And I don’t blame you. But it’s time to put the past behind us.”
She nodded. “Ok.”
“In fact,” Gazu smiled. “maybe dad will let you come with me on my next delivery.”
“Really?!” Yuri exclaimed looking up at him.
“Sure!” He laughed. “But you better get a good night sleep; I’m leaving tomorrow.”
“I will.” She smiled back.
“Good!” He walked over to the door.
“Oh, Gazu, wait.” She uttered.
He turned to face her. “Yeah?”
“What’s going on with dad? Who’s after him?”
“You heard?”
Yuri nodded.
“Oh it’s, it’s nothing. Just someone who wants a weapon delivered but we’re resolving it. Don’t worry.”
“Um, ok.” She paused for a moment. “And thanks. You always know the right thing to say.”
He smiled. “Anytime.” He replied as he left.

Chapter 4
He sat in a leather chair across from Shiven sipping a cup of tea. “So Shiven…” He set his cup on the end table next to the fireplace. “…what is this compromise you implied at earlier? Did I not make my demands clear?”
“Hajin, you of all people should know that IDS does not deliver weapons.”
“I prefer to think of it as a device.”
“It’s a level nine gun.” Shiven stated. “It’s the most dangerous and unstable piece of technology known.”
“True as that maybe, my warehouse has been invaded with a new mutant rodent species that cannot currently be eradicated with inferior tech.”
Shiven looked at him puzzled. “A new species of mutant rodents?”
“Yes.” Hajin responded. "I was baffled myself when my scientists informed me.”
“Well if that’s the case, you may not need weapons. How does transportation sound?”
***
Yuri eagerly rode the elevator down to the second floor. She couldn’t wait to ask if she could go with Gazu. She hadn’t been on a delivery in two years and this seemed like a good opportunity since her father wants her out of the way for the moment. She sprinted out the second the door opened. First breakfast then she would ask him.
She caught a glimpse of her dad and Hajin in the lounge as she darted past. It finally hit her. ’Wait what?’
She backed up quickly. She recognized him instantly because of that scar. “Hajin?!” Yuri blared out.
“Yuri!” Hajin smiled. “It’s nice to see you again!”
Shiven looked back and forth between the two. ”You know each other?”
“Yes actually, we met yesterday at the coffee shop on the edge of town.”
“You did, did you?” Shiven glared at Yuri.
Her eyes widened slightly. “Um yeah. We meet when I was out getting a latté with Vacamai. I’m gonna get some breakfast now. Bye!” She quickly ran into the kitchen. *** Later that morning, Yuri sat next to the fireplace reading. She wondered what her dad was thinking or what he was doing. Would he even let her go? Had Hajin told him she was alone? But the big question that haunted her: Where was he?
’Maybe Mayla knows.’ She thought.
She wandered the hall into the laundry room where Mayla was folding clothes.
“Hey Mayla.” Yuri waved.
“Yuri, hi!” She smiled. “What can I do for you?”
“I was wondering if you knew where my dad is. I haven’t really seen him all morning.”
“Yeah, um, I think he said he was going out to the garden.”
Yuri nodded. “Ok I’ll go check. Thanks!”
She jogged out to the backyard and through the hedge maze. She knew exactly where to go. Yuri weaved her way thought towards the center.
Shiven sat on a bench next to a huge fountain. He sat back relaxed watching the water flow down.
“Uh, hi dad. I’ve been looking all over for you.” Yuri said slightly nervous.
“Yuri, I know you went into town without my permission,” he said.
“I went with Vacamai. She said it was ok.”
He fixed his eyes on her. “It was her day off. You’re lying to me.”
“Ok yes, but I only did that cuz of the way you were treating me!”
“And how was I treating you?” His voice rose a bit.
“Neglectfully! We never talk anymore! You didn’t even tell me how mom died! Gazu had to tell me!! I barely see you and I’m always thrown in my room for no reason!”
“Come sit.” Shiven said calmly patting the bench next to him. She sat down. “I never meant to neglect you. I’ve been trying so hard to protect you, I didn’t realize my actions were overpowering my love for you.” He smirked. “To make it up to you, how would you like to go on the next delivery with Gazu? He told me you really wanted to go. And then when you get back we can do whatever you want.”
She hugged him tightly. “I’d love too!! Thank you so much!” She chuckled. “Actually, that’s what I came out here to ask you!”
He laughed. “But I want you to remember, no matter how far apart we are, I will never stop loving you!”
“I love you too.” She responded as he kissed he forehead.
“You better go pack. You leave at noon!” He checked his watch. “And it’s 10 o’clock now!
“Ok!” She got up and ran off. She was going!! Finally!!

Chapter 5
Yuri carried her bog over her shoulder as she walked towards the ship. There Gazu and her dad waited. She quickened her pace, embracing her dad in a goodbye hug.
“Have fun,” he told her. “Be good and listen to your brother.”
“I will,” she replied gripping her bag.
Gazu gave him a hug next.
“Watch out for Yuri, Gazu. Be careful, there are plenty of thugs where you two are going. Watch each others backs and you’ll be safe.”
Gazu nodded.
“Uh, by the way,” Yuri interrupted. “Where are we going?”
Shiven and Gazu laughed.
“Earth,” the two replied in unison.
She nodded giggling.
Gazu and Yuri boarded the ship, waving one last goodbye. Soon they were flying through space headed to Earth.
Yuri sat in the passenger seat watching the stars float past them. “So what is it that we’re delivering?” she questioned.
“It’s a cloaking device,” Gazu explained. “For the utroms on Earth.”
“What do they need to hide from?”
“Well one, an escaped prisoner, and two, the people there aren’t too accustomed with aliens yet.”
Yuri chuckled. “Strange.”
He nodded. “Most people don’t even know they exist!”
“Will we be able to blend in?” she asked.
“Yep. Actually they look just like us. Minus the powers, that is.”
Yuri said nothing after this. She wondered how they lived. With no powers? She couldn’t think of one day that goes by that she didn’t use her earth bending.
A few hours pass before thye started to enter the milky way. All of the stars seemed to shimmer in random sequences as they soared by.
“The stars are beautiful,” Yuri commented.
“They’re on of my favorite things about my job. I never get tired of ‘em.”
“Is that Earth?” She asked pointing to the giant blue planet.
“Yep. We should be landing any moment now.”
After they landed, Gazu led Yuri behind the TCRI building. He handed her a black suit. “Here. Put this on.”
She took it confused. “What’s if for.
He pulled one out for himself. “So they know who we are.”
Yuri put the suit on over her clothes.
Gazu held the package and led Yuri though an alley and right though the front door. They walked up to the counter, and set the small black box down. “I have an appointment with Mr. Mortu.”
“And you are?” the counter guy asked.
My name is Gazu. I’m with IDS.”
The guy pushed the intercom button. “Mortu, you visitors have arrived.”
“Send them up.”
The counter guy pointed at the elevator. “Top floor. Fith door on the right.”
“Thanks,” Gazu said heading over to the elevator with the package.
Yuri fallowed behind and stepped in. On the top floor they inter the fifth room and were greeted by Mortu. “Gazu, welcome. It’s nice to see you again. And who is this young lady?”
“This is my little sister Yuri.”
Yuri bowed. “Nice to meet you Mr. Mortu.”
Gazu handed Mortu the package. “You’re cloaking device. Grade A and in mint condition.
Mortu took it. “Very good.” He examined it. “I believe I owe you 500 units.” He pulled the credits out of his pocket.
A guardian rushed in. “Sir, I have some… alarming news.”
“Please excuse me.” Mortu said fallowing the guardian a few feet away.
Yuri curiously watched as the two men whispered briefly.
The guardian bowed and left the room
Mortu walked over to them with grief in his eyes. “I have just received word that you planet has been terminated. I am truly sorry.”
To be continued…
