Chapter 3
Future
Lair
11:15 pm
Leo stared at his legs. He had more scars than he thought. Some were from burns he had gotten years ago, but still...
“I’m sorry about that,” Star apologized. “I don’t know where I went wrong with that girl.”
Hiro put his arm around Star.
“She did make a point though,” Don stated.
Raph was shocked. “You’re joking.”
“We may not be able to go back in time to do something we should have but...” Don swiveled in his chair and started typing on his computer. “We can still learn from the past.”
Leo still watched form the other side of the room. He shook his head. It was official. Don had lost it, but that somehow amused Leo.
The others were starting to leave now, though Star and Hiro stayed behind. Star took off her necklace, allowing her scales to turn black.
“Would you look at this?” she asked Don. “The crystal’s acting up.”
Don nodded so the two dragons left the room.
It was only him and Don now, and he sure didn’t want to stick around. Leo pushed himself off the wall and strode out of the room. Not a word was exchanged between the two turtles.
Leo walked into the dojo. Maybe some training would help his mood. But then again, maybe not. He used to be the best fighter, but recently that was passed onto Audrey. Around twelve years ago, he had been sparring with her, and lost. And he had ever since. Two years after that, Audrey moved out, fixed up the old lair that the Foot had destroyed fifteen years ago and stayed there ever since. They still talked, but she had drifted away from everyone since she left. Actually he saw signs of it when she got her powers, even more when their lair was destroyed, but he didn’t think too much of it at the time.
Leo took out his katana and started his practice. Becoming one with the swords in his hands, letting them become an extension of arms. He continued to ponder as he moved through each intricate move.
---
He still didn’t know if there was anyway that the past would help. He had been through everything. The day the lair was destroyed, the day the Triceratons and Federation came to Earth, when they and the Foot took over New York...
Don leaned back in his chair. He only needed a break. There had to be a way to get rid of their enemies once and for all.
Star’s necklace dangled on a hook near him. It flashed blue every once and awhile. He reached up and took it down. He stared at it awhile. As far as he knew, it had never blinked like this before. He held it every which way inspecting it before putting it under a microscope. He stared at it, trying to make sense of what he was seeing. It was like he was looking at the inside of it. It looked like a billion of tiny specks all moving around in an elaborate pattern.
Don picked up his chisel and tapped it slightly, allowing a metallic sound to ring out.
The necklace stopped blinking and was now glowing non-stop.
“Uh-oh,” he murmured taking it out from under the microscope.
Star’s voice came from the lab doorway. “Don, have you seen Takara...”
The crystal was glowing brighter now, bathing the room in a bright eerie glow.
Don dropped the necklace as it became too bright to look at. He backed up stumbling over something he had left laying around.
