Chapter 11
Raph now wondered if Raison was who he said he was. What did he have to hide? When Leo first suggested it, he thought his brother was insane. Now… now he didn’t know for sure. They could have taken in an assassin who claimed to be a harmless bounty hunter. Well harmless to those he didn’t hunt down. Why did Rai need a hologram? He could have just said he had to do this tonight. But now they had to find him. To find out the truth.
“Where do you think we’ll find him?” Mikey asked.
“The park,” Leo said.
“Why there?” Raph asked.
“Had he been here before we met him the last time?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Exactly.” Leo turned down the next alley. “He’d go somewhere he knows about.”
Raph nodded. Made sense. He stopped as soon as he entered the park.
“Now where?” Mikey asked.
“South west corner,” Raph said. “Where his ship crashed.”
“How far is that?”
“A ten minute walk from here,” Don said. “Five if we run.”
“Beat ya there!” Mikey took off.
Raph grumbled and ran after his brothers.
---
Rai kicked the third guy into a tree, winced, and did the same to the fourth. He stood breathing harder than he should be. He hadn’t healed as much as he thought. He couldn’t change that now.
Ander smirked at him, twirling his sword. “You could join us.”
“No.” Rai glared at his brother.
“I’ll never understand why you betrayed us. Family is supposed to stick together. Through the good and bad.”
“That’s not what the saying means and you know it.” Rai heard a twig crack.
Ander did too. “Who’s there?”
No one answered.
Ander grumbled and headed in the direction of the noise. “You don’t go anywhere.” He pointed his sword at Rai and peered through the bushes.
Rai walked up behind him. “Find anything?”
Ander’s head snapped up as he whirled around. “I told you to stay put!”
“Since when do I have to listen to you?”
“Since you were born,” Ander growled. “I’m taking you to Tao and there’s nothing you can do to stop me.”
“Oh really?”
Ander pushed a button on his belt and darted to his left in the blink of an eye.
“Speed generator?”
“Yep. Ain’t she a beaut? Just got her yesterday.”
“Sounds like you love that thing,” Rai chuckled, crossing his arms.
Ander huffed. “You and your deductions.”
“If the shoe fits.”
Ander growled and darted forward, sword held high.
Rai raised his sai to catch the blade.
“You know I’m not the only one looking for you,” Ander said pushing his blade down harder.
“Well now I know.” Rai flicked his wrist and knocked Ander’s sword away. He spun him around and conked Ander on the head with the butt of his sai. “I’m sorry,” he whispered as Ander crumpled to the ground.
